Vladamir Putin’s recently appointed internet advisor Herman Klimenko used to run a torrent-sharing website in Russia that plays home to copyrighted material. Local newspaper Vedomosti reports that two anonymous sources outed Klimenko as owner of the site Torrnado.ru, which has nearly 1.3 million registered members. WHOIS owner information for the site appears to verify the somewhat convoluted link to Klimenko, who owns MediaMetrics.ru. Torrnado.ru was purchased by ECO PC Solutions, which in turn was registered by Alvetina Jacobson, who went on to head up a new TV channel for MediaMetrics.ru as an employee of Klimenko, suggesting that MediaMetrics owns Torrnado.
